My love for animals started in early childhood since I was surrounded by many different kinds of pets. That love grew more and more with each passing year. As I grew older, I would house-sit my neighbors pets and begged my parents to send me to Busch Gardens Zoo Camps, which they did.
My first job was at a veterinary hospital where I took care of the boarders and sick patients, and assisted doctors. I also did volunteer work for local rescue groups.
In college, I studied photography and most of my projects were pictures of horses and other animals. After graduation, I started my own photography business and even though I loved it, later I deemed it a side job and began a more “hands-on” career with animals.
Our doggy daycare came from humble beginnings, and has since turned into a sort of home-away-from-home for many pets in the area. I started a pet care business, caring for pets in their own homes while their families were on vacation and giving afternoon dog walks to pups whose parents worked long days. I soon realized that I was limited to how many clients I could take on; traveling from one to the other took up so much time.
So I opened
up my home to boarders and a year later converted my
existing dog walk clients to weekly daycare as well as adding new
doggy daycare clients. My clients enjoy having a safe, fun loving,
educational, affordable and most of all – clean environment
– for their pets.
Going into its sixth year, my business had grown by leaps and bounds, and I hired two part-time workers to help out until opening our new facility in Latham on March 24, 2011. We now have eight employees!
I worked alongside Dan Rossignol, a local
dog behaviorist of 35 years. Here I expanded my knowledge base of
dogs, their behavior and how to fix it and avoid conflict.
Utilizing this knowledge, I have successfully fostered,
rehabilitated and re-homed over 20 dogs in the past 2 years.
In the future, I plan to continue my work with dogs and people to help them better understand one another so fewer dogs are given up, abused and abandoned. I also want to help those good dog owners have a healthy, stress-free relationship, and of course, a place to board their pet.
Nowadays, it's difficult to keep watch over and tend to your pet 24/7. We lead busy lives and may need helping hands to give our furry friends the love and attention they deserve. If your canine needs a safe and loving environment to stay in while you're at work or vacation, enroll them in our doggy cay care center! Our pet boarding facility provides ample space for your dog to socialize and exercise in, and a comfortable bed to relax in. Our staff will always take into account each dog's behavior, tolerance for other dogs and any special dietary needs they may have.
Our doggy cay care center is essentially
like a vacation for your pet! We provide them with maximum resting
areas, plenty of wide open play space, tons of friends to interact
with if so desired, and high quality food. We do everything we can
to ensure that your dog or cat is not anxious or stressed out
during their stay.
Our fully-insured doggy daycare is open Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
However, we are open 7 days a week from 6:30 a.m. until 9 p.m. except on major holidays.
Someone is always on site from 6 a.m. until 11 p.m.
